Whittington Wanderers will have four teams playing on Brearley Park for the 2008 season. The club created from the merger of Richland Wanderers and Old Whittington will have two sides in the Yorkshire & Derbyshire League as well as a midweek team and an occasional friendly side.
Old Whittington Cricket Club still exists but the constitution has been ammended to make the club a community project based on charitable principles. The main aim of this project is to improve the sporting facilities on Brearley Park for all sports users and the wider community.
The 1st XI moved clear at the top of the division after a solid performance against Hundall. A superb batting display racked up 253-3 in the 46 overs, Andy Tann with an excellent 127 and Fletcher (51)
